Of the nearly 2,000 women per day in the US who will lose a child to miscarriage, stillbirth and other forms of infant death, a vast number of those women will grieve alone.
The Art Card Project exists to change that one woman at a time. It’s a small thing, this pretty little card with a beautiful painting on front and a simple message of sympathy with resources for grief and healing on the back, but this small thing can make a big difference in the heart of a woman who has just found out she will never hold her child. Why? Because it conveys an important message…
She is not alone.
In October of 2012 Melissa (of Beautifully Chaotic) and Stephanie (of Beyond Words Designs) raised enough money, through the “We Remember You” event, to have 8,000 cards printed to be distributed to women experiencing loss by Dr’s offices, hospitals, midwives, doulas and other organizations and can now offer these beautiful cards for FREE (*however, we much charge for shipping and incurred fees).
There are two types of cards, one for early loss and one for late losses such as stillbirth. They have been designed with Memory boxes in mind and are beautiful keepsakes (see examples below).

How do I get cards to distribute?

- Choose how you will partner with us to expand the reach of the Art Card Project and the We Remember You Walk.
- Locate the donation chart below to calculate shipping cost.
- Donate appropriate amount using the ‘Donate’ button on the upper right margin of this page (the orange button).
Please be sure to verify that you already have permission if you are planning on distributing through a Hospital, Dr’s Office or ministry. While the cards are a FREE gift you will need to pay the shipping and handling fees and partner with us in some way to expand the reach of the art cards.
What exactly do you mean by “partnering” with you?
Sadly, every day thousands of women will lose a child. Thousands of families will experience the life-changing grief that accompanies it. Far, far too many of those women and families feel alone in their loss. We ask that you partner with us when you request Art Cards because for every woman who receives this precious keepsake to remember her child by, for every family that gets this small reminder that they are not alone in their grief, there are so many who will not. Our heart is to change that but we can not do it alone. We are just two mothers trying to turn the tide of grief one card at a time and in order to expand the reach of these cards we need your help, your influence, your reach. By sharing with your Social Media, or adding blurb about the cards to your newsletter, or adding us to your resource page you stand with us and break the silence surrounding loss.
Do I have to have a paypal account?
No, paypal is simply a tool that also accepts major credit cards and allows me to invoice when needed. I am also happy to check payments, but this will slow the process of getting the cards down.
Why does it cost money to get these cards, I thought it was a free gift?
It takes a tremendous amount of effort to raise the funds to have the cards printed, I simply can not cover the costs related to packaging, shipping, paypal, and endless trips to the post office. I am also a mom on a budget and these little increments of cost add up quickly!
How much will it cost to have the quantity of Art Cards I request shipped?
I have weighed the cards in batches of 50 and formulated a basic chart for the cost to ship in the continental USA. Shipping to Canada or Overseas will be calculated differently. I plan on sending these media mail and first class international, so if you need them FASTER, please contact me so we can arrange it. If you would like a different quantity I am happy to send you an invoice. There is currently NO LIMIT to the amount of cards you request. I just ask that you have the means and plan to distribute them. So, that means if you need 600+, then ask for them!
If the quantity you would like is listed below, please send along a payment by using the ‘Donate’ button on the Right side of this page. This is an approximation only, if there is a giant discrepancy, I will email you requesting the difference. Once your donation is received, I will ship out your Art Cards!
